Boniface Kiprop Toroitich of Uganda crosses the line in the Men's 10,000m Final.
Uganda has won its second gold medal of the Games, with Boniface Kiprop Toroitich finishing first in the Men's 10,000m Final.
The Ugandan ran 27:50.99, just ahead of Geoffrey Kipngeno of Kenya and Fabian Joseph Naasi of Tanzania in third.
The medallists were among a group of four runners that broke away from the rest of the field early in the race. Paul Langat from Kenya narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth.
The lead changed among the four runners several times, but Kiprop Toroitich was never far from the front.
The race came down to a sprint on the final lap with Kipngeno unable to catch Kiprop Toroitich in the last hundred metres.
"It's Uganda's second medal and everyone will be very proud of me," said Kiprop Toroitich. "Tonight I wanted to win a race, and I definitely knew it was there to be won."
