Sherone Simpson wins the Women's 4x100m Relay for Jamaica.
Jamaica's men have followed up the success of their women's team, winning the Men's 4x100m Relay at the MCG this evening in 38.36 seconds, with Asafa Powell finishing the final leg strongly.
South Africa took the silver in a time of 38.98 with Canada coming third in 39.21.
It was disappointment for the Australian team. Coming into the final leg with a clear lead, a botched baton exchange between Adam Miller and Matt Shirvington cost the team a medal.
Mauritius and Antigua & Barbuda crossed the line in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Ghana and New Zealand also failed to finish.
The Jamaican women won the gold medal in their 4x100 Relay, in a time of 43.10 with England finishing second in 43.43 and Australia taking the bronze with a time of 44.25.
The winning run by Daniele Browning, Sheri-Ann Brooks, Peta Dowdie and Sherone Simpson gives Jamaica their first gold medal in the 4x100 Relay at the Commonwealth games.
Jamaica have now won 10 gold medals at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
