Tay had been knocking on the door of National team selection for a few years and she finally cracked it in 2004 after moving from Melbourne to Greg Salter's NSW North Coast training base in Kingscliff with fellow Backstroker Sophie Edington, who moved to Salter two years ago from Adelaide.
Tayliah's win in the 50m Backstroke at the Games Trials also set a new Australian All-Comers record. Her PB in the 100m Backstroke is also the Australian Record.
Incredibly Zimmer and Edington finished tied for first in the 100m Backstroke, in 59.38, before also dead-heating, in 27.77, in the 50m final at the 2004 Telstra Australian Short Course Championships in Brisbane. |
