Other 2002 was a big year for Mark. He won the 2002 World Junior Titleholder in the Individual Pursuit. He also won the Australian Male Junior Road Cyclist of the Year Award and the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Overall Athlete of the Year and Junior Athlete of the Year.

His interests outside of cycling include cross-country running, mountainbiking, golf, public speaking and learning language.

One of his aims in cycling is to ride the Tour de France.
