Andrew had a brilliant start to 2005. He qualified for his first senior Australian team and won two gold medals at the Junior Pan Pacs in Maui.

Showing his versatility, Andrew has previously won gold medals at the Junior Pan Pacs in the 100m Butterfly and the 4x100m Freestyle relay.

At the 2005 Telstra Trials, Andrew finished second to former world champion Matt Welsh in the 100m Backstroke, stopping the clock at 55.13 to earn himself a seat on the Telstra Dolphins' plane to the World Championships in Montreal.

He amassed 11 gold, ten silver and two bronze medals in Freestyle, Butterfly, Backstroke and IM events from the last five Australian Age Championships.

Only days into the 2004 New Year, Andrew beat Matt Welsh and Olympic finalist Josh Watson in their main event - the 100m Backstroke - at the 2004 Victorian Championships. Later in the year, he pushed the same duo all the way at the Telstra Olympic Team Selection Trials.
