Other Maria was first called in the Silver Ferns team for the 2005 Fisher & Paykel Series against England.

Maria splits her time between the Silver Ferns and New Zealand Under 21 team, and she travelled to Miami with the NZU21 side to compete for the World Youth Cup.

She also made her debut for the Diamonds this year, where she was coached by former Australian specialist shooter Sue Hawkins.

Maria won the ASB Young Sport Person of the Year Award in 2004 for her netball.

Her other credentials include captain of the MAGS Premier netball team (2004), Auckland/Waitakere NPC Team (2004), New Zealand Secondary Schools Team (2004), and Auckland/Waikakere Under 21 netball team winners (2004).
