Other Leana had already notched up 34 Test Caps for South Africa when she followed fellow South African Irene van Dyk to New Zealand.

Her height, agility and keen eye make her a respected defender.

She originally settled in Wellington where she fought her way into the Silver Ferns, and she was a key part of the team that took the World Championship title in 2003.

She says a highlight of her netball career was being a member of the World 7 Team in 2001.

Leana says a typical training week for her involves cardio training twice a week, speed and netball related training twice a week, and weights and pilates up to three times a week.
