Born in Australia, Lindsay was raised in New Zealand by his English father, and his mother who has Maori heritage.

Lindsay's grandmother Jane Tehira was the first woman to represent New Zealand in three sports - Hockey, Softball, and Basketball. His mother Tui Tait played in the Australian WNBL and New Zealand age group basketball tournaments and his father Mike Tait was an England and New Zealand basketball representative.

He loves eating his grandmother's chicken pieces, keeping his energy up for his 'go to' basketball move a 'hesitation dribble' which he uses with lightning speed to confound many a defender.
