In the lead up to and during the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, VicHealth will be promoting the VicHealth M2006 10,000 Steps Walking Challenge. The challenge is a call to action for all spectators to walk at the games and make the most of the games atmosphere because walking is fun and the best way to get around.
To participate in the challenge, spectators can either purchase an M2006 10,000 Steps Walking Kit or use a generic pedometer; register in the 10,000 Steps Walking Challenge; walk 10,000 steps around the Commonwealth Games; and then log their steps at the VicHealth 10,000 Steps Challenge Hub, located on the Lower Terrace at Interact. Entrants will then go into the draw to win some great daily prizes plus be eligible to win the major prize competition.
Also located at the 10,000 Steps Challenge Hub will be an interpretive display that uses a combination of static and interactive multimedia presentations to promote walking as a fun and enjoyable activity for recreation, leisure and transport.
