LILA/PLAY: Contemporary Miniatures and New Art from South Asia

LILA/PLAY: Contemporary Miniatures and New Art from South Asia PLAY/LILA: Contemporary Miniatures and New Art from South Asia brings together a selection of artists from Commonwealth South Asia and its diaspora, whose work references the layered technique and imagery of the miniature. This exhibition takes a broad definition of the idea of the miniature to incorporate a variety of media, from the traditional gouache technique to watercolour, print, photography and sculpture, as well as new media formats such as projection and animation work. It situates the genre of the miniature within a broad contemporary art context to reflect on its potential as a dynamic and evolving visual form.
