Drum Drum
From Australia, Papua New Guinea
"Drum Drum may be the biggest thing to emerge out of the Northern Territory since Yothu Yindi…both funky and hauntingly beautiful at the same time." Lowdown Magazine
Based in the far north of Australia, and featuring dancers and classically trained musicians from Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Australia, Drum Drum is one of the most innovative contemporary groups in the South Pacific. With traditional costumes and body paint evoking the ritual origins of their music, the ten members of Drum Drum perform ancient songs and dances to the vibes of pounding log drumming, ceremonial chants and bamboo flutes. Their musical repertoire is a veritable feast for the senses, and includes a number of traditional songs and dances that have never previously been performed outside of Papua New Guinea. This is a celebration of life!
