Amjad Ali Khan

“It was like watching an Indian classical answer to Eric Clapton . . . it was easy to see why great Indian music can be as exciting as classic blues and rock." The Guardian, London

Amjad Ali Khan is the world’s foremost sarod player. A true maestro of this difficult but exquisite 19-string instrument, he is the sixth generation of a remarkable and unbroken lineage of master sarod players that traces its roots back to a seventeenth century Afghani horse-trader. He is internationally admired for his unique hypnotic style, and for his inventiveness in interpreting traditional notions of classical Indian music. A former child prodigy, Amjad Ali Khan is an international celebrity whose sublime music regularly reverberates through Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and the Kennedy Centre.

In association with the Nataraj Cultural Centre; assisted by the IndianCouncil for Cultural Relations.
